As Sarajevo sits in the midst of a polemic climate emergency, the project’s speculative future strategises architecture as part of a visual communication and protest. Through a collective laboratory space for material experimentation and collaboration between people of different skillsets, new materials are innovated from waste collected across Sarajevo.
A new monument and symbol of retaliation against climage change will emerge as part of Sarajevo’s cityscape by embodying an adhoc series of facade material panels reinvented from waste. The facade camouflages into the collaged nature of Sarajevo, creating an illusion that the panels are read as part of the mountain scape behind, while its true function tracks positive or negative environmental changes.
The project is set out as a voice for the people of Sarajevo, standing as a proposal for a resilient future to be achieved through architecture.
