This regeneration of coastlines is a global cultural and economic crisis where coastal cities have lost their local livelihood as well as local seafront activities in support of 25 small trawlers and small local businesses.
The project’s brief takes place on the Isle of Man in a future scenario where its population increases from its current 80,000 to 600,000. With this mass influx, the project proposes a model of federation for independent business as a self-sustaining fishery on the Isle of Man, designed to protect and preserve the local livelihood of peel.
The fishery is built along the existing marina across both sides of the dock wall, connecting to the context through the waters where it supports 25 small trawlers and local businesses. Through a series of individual fishery models and shared amenities, a collective of curated spaces are designed in support of a sustainable and energy efficient fishery.
