ENGLISH II

MODULE OUTLINE

Introduction:

English is the basics of all language where it is a must for students to understand and master the language in order to face real world's interaction, challenges and conversations. It allows students to realize the importance of mastering the language.

 

English II aims to equip students with sufficient language skills to demonstrate English Language proficiency at both the pre-university and tertiary level. Students will be trained to communicate according to the situation and purpose as well as demonstrate accuracy in the 4 language skills. The emphasis of the module is on the development of academic reading and writing skills, as well as techniques to answer the listening and speaking components both accurately and appropriately.

Module Outline:

The course is designed to equip learners with sufficient communication and interpersonal skills and techniques. Students will learn how to communicate with one another according to the situation and purpose. They will also be able to demonstrate accuracy and fluency in the 4 language skills which are listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will be able to show critical understanding of language in context. They will have no problem in demonstrating effectiveness in expression too.

 

By the end of the module, students will be able to (for each language skills):

1. Reading- analyze and evaluate reading texts critically

2. Writing- research, write a well-developed and well-organized 5-paragraph critical or argumentative essay

3. Listening- identify speaker’s role, expression, relationship and attitude as conveyed through stress and intonation

4. Speaking- develop interviewing skills, deliver presentations publically, apply argumentative strategies in specific situations
