Project Introduction:
This is the first project given to us for Introduction to Design which is an individual sketching project. The sketches for each artwork needs to relate or be a part of KLCC park. Before starting the project, we had to take and capture photos of the natural and built environment of KLCC park to be used as reference for our 10 sketches.
Before capturing the pictures at KLCC, we wil have to study and understand design elements, which will be briefly taught during lecture classes, so that we will be able to judge and classify each photo under a clear design element. After that, we are required to sketch our findings (translating pictures in to sketches), understanding and interpretation of basic design elements.
10 sketches of the natural and built environment will be produced with proper architectural sketching techniques (hatching, scribbling, stippling, etc.). Each design element has to be brought out clearly from selected photos taken at KLCC Park. 8 of the artwork produced will be sketched on A5 drawing paper with proper design vocabulary explanation. The last 2 artwork will be an abstract which represents a picture taken from KLCC Park. Both the artrwork will be transformed into either geometric or organic abstract art.
Design elements required: Lines, Shape (Organic & Geometric), Texture // Pattern, Form & Hue, Abstract Art

Project Brief:
Project Process:
After learning and practicing proper architectural sketching technique, I have started to draft out a few sketches by implementing these newly learnt technique into the drafted sketches.
Understanding and explaining design elements based on the sketches was done after all the sketches were completely done and produced.

Sketching
The project started with our trip to KLCC Park where we searched for suitable photos to be taken of the natural and built environment in KLCC Park.
I had managed to take many different photos for myself to choose from later on before sketching. Photos were taken based on the design element that has to be sketched on later.

Sketching lines- built environment with hatching technique
Scribbling using different line weight to show brightness
Sketching tecture of a tree bark using stippling method
Colouring the hue of a flower
Abstract art colouring

Individual Art & Explaination
Reflection:
As a student who has no contact or knowledge about sketching before this project, this first sketching project has exposed me to proper sketching technique because. This was my first exposure to architectural sketching skills as before this project I was totally clueless about architectural sketching techniques.
I was amazed at how detailed and neat at how the outcome of each sketch could be by using the learned sketching methods.I mostly use stippling and cross hatch because they are the easiest to master and can be used for most sketches. It was difficult at first because I was unsure on how to use them while sketching which was why I started early, in order to practice the skill and be able to show progress during tutorial.
However, later on I realized that the most difficult part was not the sketching, but the design explanation whereby we had to use proper design vocabularies. It has brought a light about the different design methods and how a little logic can always be applied in your artwork. From understanding design elements, I have understood how each little detail can be explained using proper design vocabulary.
